This shoot made all of my tropical dreams come true! From a fun balloon train in all shades of pink, palm leaves everywhere, giant magenta peonies, and a stunning bride - it was absolute perfection!
Styled shoots can be tricky...there are so many other photographers shooting at the same time and it's easy to just shout out directions to the models without getting to know them (bc there's not a lot of time)! But I've always found that taking the time to get to know a couple (or family or kids) makes a huge difference in the long run. Suddenly I'm not just someone behind the camera and even if it's just learning a few details - like the fact the model shares the same name as what I just named my baby girl! Or the couple actually just got married a month before! - now I have a connection with them and we're both more comfortable. And being comfortable, connecting with people, that's 90% of what this job is about. Not just getting a pretty picture, but being able to capture the essence of who people are and what it is that they're experiencing.
Cheers to a great learning experience and more pink!
